"We must meet our students exactly where they are with exactly the brains they have right now. We must use all the tools we have available to us and not expect them to fit into a mold or all behave exactly the same." - Dr. Gene R. Carter
All of us, children and adults alike, have different strengths and weaknesses in our learning. Historically, however, schools have approached student learning with a one-size-fits-all mentality and have struggled to adapt to changing student needs.
That ends now.
In order to help you change the way your students learn, this course will expand your knowledge related to learning differences, provide actionable strategies to impact the learning experience of your students, and cultivate a growth mindset related to learning differences. At the end of this course, you will have:
- Deepened your own understanding of learning differences and the related constructs of motivation, executive function, and working memory.
- Explored relevant strategies for supporting students with learning differences.
- Applied strategies in your classroom and provided a more personalized learning experience for all of your students.
The Learning Differences MOOC-Ed is designed for educators including teachers, coaches, administrators, or allies who play a role in meeting the needs of all students. If you're interested, register here - we would love to learn with you. We invite participation from teachers and coaches of all schools and all grade levels. While the course materials are largely drawn from resources across the U.S., we invite educators from around the world to participate as we have found in prior courses that international perspectives enrich the experience for everyone enrolled.
